In my '83 Ranger 2.8, does it have a Dura spark or what? There is no Vacuum line and the dist. cap is pretty large compared to some I've seen. Never had any problem with it for 18 years, just thought I should know.

Is there a box somewhere that says duraspark on it?

Also if you don't have a mess of wiring it is possible it is factory as well, I have heard rumors that some of the 83's had it from the factory, which is why the later trucks had the holes to mount the box.

What ever it has is from the factory. I have not seen any box that says Dura spark. I just know there is no vacuum line to the dist. There is a computer box behind a plastic cover in the cab on the passengers side by the passengers right foot.

Is there a module on the side of the dizzy? If there is it's not duraspark.
You should consider the duraspark coversion. It gets rid of the computer and emission stuff. I just finished mine yesterday and it idles and runs alot better. The throttle response seems alot better also.

My duraspark distributer has a vacuum line going to it, my stock feedback one just had a big plug in.

It doesn't really sound like you have factory duraspark.
