Anyone attempted in a RBV? I have wanted one for years, I finally snagged a big block housing (same housing as dual snorkel mustang minus a snorkel) I am thinking to run them forward and utilize the stock air inlet holes in the radiator support.

That actually looks like a good setup. If the intakes are up high and away from the water it would be a nice Cold air intake and keep a lot of crap out of the filter. On the fox bodies the Cold air intake was always in the fender well like in the pic. Not sure if that would be good or bad in an offroad vehicle though.

Most newer trucks draw from the inner fender and for the most part get a long fine.

I don't have room though, speed control servo on one side of my engine and my aux fuse panels on the other. My inner fenders are not really designed for it either.

My 2.8 drew from the driver side of the radiator support, most other engines drew from the passenger side... So I was thinking build on that. Clean fresh air from the grille rather than my current open element drawing hot engine bay air. I don't do any high water, living in the sticks I do run a lot of gravel roads though. And it all looks period correct.

Looking at the pics 2hrs from the truck I do worry about firewall clearance. 14" filter to 17".

Its tight but it goes on. Cab is just sitting on the frame it will probably come down some when I tighten up the cab mounts which will totally make it not fit though.

2.3 and 2.9 drew air from behind the green shield behind the grille:

My 2.8 drew from the open hole in roughly the same spot on the other side:

2.8 had a shorter snorkel, I will probably watch for another one. Really shows how much smaller a RBV engine bay is than a foxbody.

Not sure what to do from here... :icon_confused:

Those 2.3/2.9/2.8 pictures all look remarkably like a V8. :-)

Its one of those new fangled variable displacement engines. :icon_idea:

Anyway, the holidays are coming, if anyone needs any ideas...

Anyway it is interesting that the factory dual snorkel has the two lines going to the base whereas my Lincoln assembly has them going to the lid. Not sure what they do (Evap maybe?)

Trim the lid and possibly housing is about all I have come with so far to get the thing to fit. 82-83 Mustangs used a similar housing but it was smaller and since they only had a 2bbl didn't disclose carb size. Snag a lid off of one of those and put on a base that fits a 4bbl is an option. But I wanna use the big one...

EDIT:

I had thought of something like this (plasma cut out the center and offset it) but didn't know if a bent bolt would hold it right.
