any one know how to de activate the daytime running lights on a 93 ranger?

Unplug the module that is on the rad support.

where on the rad support is it located? lower driver side?

By unplugging it you loose the dash indicator of when your Brights are on and Parking Brake.

It's on the driver's side of the rad support, above and to the left of the frame rail.

Sniper is right, you will lose your dash indicators for the park brake and highbeam. However....in theory :derisive: you could take a volt meter and test the wires at the DRL module. Find out which one becomes hot when you start your truck. Then clip this wire at the DRL module. This would stop sending the signal to the DRL module to tell it when to turn the DRL's on, hence no more DRL's. :derisive:

I take no responsibility in the safety of doing this, and be aware that in almost all places it could make the vehicle non-road worthy in the eyes of the law.

Why are you trying to get rid of the DRLs, also isn't there a way to just turn them off?

I know most cars with DRL systems won't turn the lights on if the parking brake is set. If you click the pedal down a notch or two its not enough to actually engage the brake, but it will kill the DRLs, you'll just have the brake light on.

i find for trail running and stuff its a pain in the but when guys behind me have drls runnin, i tried the old pedal trick but no dice, as far as loosing my high beam indicator i'm not to worried,

Or do like the RCMP do, put a switch inline with the DRL module so you can turn it off when you want and back on for street use.

or just take the bulbs out.

i *think* if you unplug the module and plug back in the 'jumper' that they put in the US spec trucks, you should be okay. they were all wired for DRL's, but only the canadian trucks got the actual module. the other trucks just have a plastic thing that goes in its place. i had one but i think it went to scrap with all of my old wiring from my engine swap. if you would have asked a couple days sooner...

i thought they were a seperate lower powered bulb.

Nope, DRLs are just the headlights with the tail lights not on.

well shit, i wouldn't want that either.
