driving with no doors in pa

yep idk if half doors will work or not i will find out soon

i got called to office about my lack of doors on my ranger lol so they just said to get my doors back on and he said tube doors would be ok

(f) Doors. A vehicle specified under this subchapter shall be equipped with doors of a type used as original equipment. The doors shall open and close securely unless the vehicle has been manufactured or modified to the extent that there is no roof or side. Tailgates, except on vehicles where the tailgate gives access to the passenger compartment, may be replaced with wood planking, nets or other material that will prevent loss of load. Tailgates may be removed when optional equipment, for example a truck camper, is added.

I think that means that they aren't gonna like tube-doors either.

i drove my BII around in NC without doors for about 4 months and never got stopped. ended up having to put them to get it to pass inspection cause the rearview mirrors are on them. as soon as this damn pollen leaves i may take them off again.

So, who said tube doors would be ok? The office people at school or the police? I'm a little confused...

I have been told that Jeep owners get pulled over at times for not having doors... if they put mirrors on the vehicle (or I've seen some that attach to the upper door hinge when the door is off), then it becomes legal for PA.

I had thought about pinning my choptop doors and doing a set of tube doors and a set of half doors. I'd probably rig up some sort of mirror setup for 'em.

It's legal in PA only if the doors came as optional equipment...which, up till I think 2007, it actually was an option on a Wrangler. And even then, you have to have at least one side mirror on the Jeep (as the passenger one is an option and not standard equipment). As far as your Ranger goes...nope you're out of luck, they're standard.

You NC guys also don't have to have your wheels pulled for inspection unless the brakes make noise. PA is stricter than most states on a lot of things, it's compensating for our crappy roads.

yeah, I think half doors are good, but tube doors are a no go for inspection.
