ya don't skimp on the breathers! i ruined my t case cuz i didn't extend it, stupid, but i just plain didn't think about it!

tcase's are easy and fairly cheap to replace, however not something i feel like doing everytime i splash through a puddle.

Yeah, I can get them for $50 when they go on sale at the wrecker, but if Im stuck spending time changing a tcase I am missing out on spending that time to do all the other work I have on the to-do list.

I was going to pick up some dielectric grease. What things should I use that on? Spark Plug wires to plugs, headlights... what else? I have never used dielectric grease before, what should I be aware of when using it?

Anywhere there is a connection is good, I pulled every fuse and relay and gooped it on them too. On my truck, boat and everything else I hose it down with Corrosion Block I get from West Marine, your can spray it right on your fuse panels if you want.

Oh yeah? And that stuff keeps out the water? Our just cleans it beforehand?

bearing grease does the same thing. clean up the connections, tighten everything down then put a thin coat of bearing grease on it. the grease resists getting washed away better than some other products out there.

Kinda an old post. but adding a tidbit of info for future researchers. Extending your breathers is not the cure all for keeping water out. i had my breathers ran extremely high, had removed my carpet, snorkel, and done a fair amount of electrical wateroroofing. And I am allways having to change fluids, repack bearings, replace filters, and chase electrical gremlins. however taking my truck into DEEP water is a regular thing as some of the mud up here dries like concrete and i like to get it all off before hitting the road home.

On the new rig i have made a "manifold for my breathers as well. still a work in progress as I allready have a different method of trying to keep the axles and stuff in a constant positive pressure. 1 thing i still need to do i make some outter axle debris seals as the standard superiour seals version wont work in my axle that has 1/2" wall tubes.
