Driving me crazy

From what I can understand from the search on the syncro problem, the syncro can cause the shaft to bounce allowing the sensor to be tapped causing the stutter. Was talking to a couple of the 5.0 guys in another forum that said it was kinda like when the distributor jumps around at higher rpms. Again just what i gather so far. Check the search on this topic and see if you concur.

Then disconnect the sensor and drive 'er around. That'll tell you fast and simple if that's the problem or not.

Test completed

OK Bubba,

So I unhooked the cam shaft position sensor this morning and drove her hard through the rpm ranges. Not a skip to be had. now of course the computer did not like not seeing the sensor but what the heck.

At lunch i hooked it back up and sure as shooting it started the problem again. The sensor is new with less than 5000 miles on it.

So I called my mechanic and coincedently he had another 3.0 ranger at the shop doing the same thing today. he did a search on his mechanics website and they all said basicly the same thing. New syncro.

Awesome!!! I believe i mentioned that a few posts ago but either way I'm glad to hear that you got your problem fixed.

Still gotta get one put in but I will post up how it goes.

Congrats! Glad you found the problem (even if it ment I was wrong  )

Interesting turn of events. People have had theres completly fail w/o having any problems such as yours. Even when my started slipping and skipping the only way I could tell was from the noise. Wonder why yours was different?

What I did not say was that I did hear that squelching noise every so often. Never could track it down but it was from the back of the engine. did not realize that it was this part till you posted something about it on yours.
