I own a 97 ranger supercab 4x4 with no lift yet. I am converting the two-piece driveshaft to a one-piece from a 2003 (aluminum). The t-case flange is larger so I am having to swap the u-joint flange to bolt to my t-case like the tech. library says but the u-joints are different. Does anyone know the part number to one that will work just so I don't have to change the actual t-case flange. Any help would be great.

You will need a special conversion joint that has two different sizes built in. I would just swap flanges. 30MM socket and an impact wrench will take care of it real quick.

Thanks

thanks for the input, the only problem there was I didn't have the larger t-case flange. But I fixed it earlier, I went to the parts house and found a needle in a haysack. The u-joint part# at advance auto is 1-0134

No, you don't, you just need the appropriate Companion flange adapter...
the four bolt piece that the U-joint is pressed into that mounts to the round flange.

Using a "conversion" U-joint makes things "non standard"

And worse means you have two different U-joints on the same shaft, two different spares in your toolbox, two different part numbers to keep track of, etc...

The one piece driveshaft with big flanges at BOTH ends is a 2001-up

'98-2000 (and some early '01s) used the smaller flange.

the flange adapter piece costs 20-something new, or at worst ~$30.

Dang it! :pissedoff: I did it again! ASSumed something wrong. :haha: I have to make sure to stop and think about stuff that I have not worked with personally.

Does anyone have a part number for this piece... l picked up a one piece aluminum driveshaft with the bigger 3" flange. Picking up a flange from a 2001 transfer case at the junkyard is not an option.

Is this piece a new flange or does it sit on top of the existing to compensate for the bigger flange?

Not intending to Jack your thread but:

I have the same question. Is there a part number for this 3" T-case flange?
Next question is, does anyone have one available.

Lol I don't think you have to worry about jacking a thread THIS old:icon_thumby:

Sometime later this summer/early fall I will have a practically brand new companion flange for sale. 1330 U-Joint and 2.5" bolt spacing. Fits my 1990 Ranger Tcase.

For anyone still needing to swap out the old 2.5" flange for a 3" flange, I found mine at 4xHeaven. I cost me about $40. I just talked to them and told them what I was doing and they hooked me up.
