Driveshaft swap

Ok - I hate to bring this up again but I have searched for info on using the explorer front driveshaft in the rear of a B2 and am still a bit confused. My truck has the silly cv shaft so I would like to replace it. I got a front shaft from a 93 explorer but am wondering what I need to do to get the shaft to work with the flat flanges on my truck. Do I need to change the flanges on the t case and the rear end or do I need something to bolt to the u joint cups on the driveshaft? I really dont want to spend $500 on a new shaft right now. My truck is a 88 B2 with a 7.5, A4LD, and 1350 mechanical t case.

Since you have a '88, that shaft will need to be shortened 2.5"

This is what you need:
1.
A 1354 front t-case output yoke to swap out your rear t-case flange,
2.
The front u-joint flange off any '88-'97 Ranger/Explorer rear driveshaft (this to fit your BII 7.5" pinion flange... if you plan on a 8.8" swap in the future, you'll want a REAR flange off any '91-'97 RBV rear driveshaft).

I plan on putting a 4" lift in the truck by summer time - would I still need to shorten the driveshaft that much?

I'd probably go 2" shorter in that case.
