not really sure where to post this but here is my newest discovery.

Today i crawled under my truck and was looking around. The insulation under the cab over the tranny etc is sagging and looks like it was burned. it touches the driveshaft.

Well as i move it away i notice the driveshaft is a bit polished in that area...ok i figure that would happen. Looking closer i notice a groove that encirles the shaft as if someone took a grinder to it while it was spinning. likewise the weld is worn flat. I compared it to the back where it is normal and fine.
Its insane all i can figure is that the insulation over the 50,000 miles ive driven has worn that groove in the shaft!? Im pissed that such a shitty piece of shit could destroy my drive shaft. its like 1/16 inch deep the groove and 1 inch wide. :annoyed:

How thick are the walls of the aluminium shafts?

im afraid that if i stomp it or something itll just twist that bitch clean off right there.

Be warned check that crap, can be avoided witha pair of scissors or some tape or something. now im in the marke for a new shaft unless ford decides to replace it for the bullshit design.

Heh. I've seen a zip tie put a hole in a $1,000 aluminum fuel tank. That guy was pissed.

wow aluminum has its positives and negatives
