I could not find any other place to put this, so here it goes. My drivers side door is loose when closed and rattles as my frame flexes when I'm off road. My passenger side door doesn't and it is pretty annoying to here it all the time. It's and 1986 2.9 regular cab. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would check the latch assembly first, and the hinge bolts, something has got to be loose, or the latch is not closing all the way around the, er, uh... pin? Whatever you wanna call it

Didn't the old jamb pins have a plastic bushing?

I recall that when that is broken / missing, it is unbearably rattlicious. Duct tape FTW.

Had the same issue. I replaced the hinges, which were bad but it still did not totally fix the roblem. Realized it was the bushings that bolt the cab to the frame of the truck. They had failed. This allowed the the cab to move around and flex. Once replaced, the door is great.

if you can pull the door in with your hand and it stops then you need to adjust the door latch in to hold the door tighter against the weatherstripping.as the weatherstripping goes away and the other parts wear its not as snug against the body.if its not leaking water i would just snug up the door not replace weatherstripping or hinges/latch

Had the same thing on my first Ranger...usually it's the bushings on the pins...but you should check for play in the door (up/down/forward/back)...if there is no play it could be the latching mechanism inside the door...I've had to replace that once also...and there is supposed to be a plastic wrap around the closing pin...if that is chewed away (as can happen if your pin bushings are loose) then replacing it will reduce the rattle...
