drive shaft questions

i have been planning out my sas conversion so when i start i can get it done quick. now im planning around a 10in lift so the top of the 33in tires will be level with the bottom of the truck.my question is will i need cv joints or will u-joints work? if u-joints work will i need a longer drive shaft? if i need a longer drive shaft can i use a drive shaft from a super cab with a 7ft bed? my ruck is a 99 ranger supercab 6ft bed 2wd 3.0 with a 4r44e trans
 
There was never an extended cab ranger with a long bed. Well, I guess there was, Its called an F150.

It is hard to say exactly what your drive line angles will look like after 10" of lift. The drive shafts are fine with 6" of lift. Add a 3" body lift and your most of the way there.....
 
I have a stock front shaft and a 98+ One Piece rear shaft and they're working fine on my truck with around 10"s of lift.

hey thanks whalstrom1 makes me feel better when i know i don't have to spend more money.

metalmacguyver i dont like body lifts but thanks anyway.
 
The body lift will give you nice room to work, a low COG, ease in mounting sliders, room to run the exhaust out of rock rash rampage, room for a 302 or a 351 if your hammer is big enough.

I ran 35s on my ranger with just a torsion bar crank and a bl and blew away jeeps on the trails left and right, except that one time I got high centered on my driveshaft and kerfuckulated it to hell.

I have no plans on installing a v-8 in my ranger, if i do a engine conversion of any kind it will be a complex process of putting in a hemi with the mds system:3gears:. but first i need to get a motorcycle to get me around if i run into any problems. but thanks for the info.
