My credo
Clean your room before you criticise the world.
Is it worth getting drilled and slotted rotors on an f150? Or just some good coated ones. I have a tendency to warp rotors on auto cars.

Only if you get good ones which are not cheap. Lots of crappy chinese rotors out there these days that are just recycled soup cans. Of course, simply not braking so hard is also an option.

I don't bother turning rotors on my 150 anymore. I pull a bunch of weird crap that don't have brakes so I am kind of hard on truck brakes.

After I have them turned they warp almost right away.

I have been running Bendix rotors from rockauto, they seem pretty good.

Welp the price difference between the Bendix ones and power stop drilled and slotted was like 20$. So the hell with it I bought em never tried em before we'll see. And I don't drive like a pissed off teenager anymore idk, even if I drive like gram gram ya know. All my current stuff is 5spd so I just downshift and use the brakes from like 35mph down when I stop ya know. Doesn't take much to stop. But idk why I can't keep flat rotors on auto cars lol.

I’ve been told that a lot of times I’ve the problem is not warped rotors, but instead break pad deposits on the rotors. More common on auto cars because you get the breaks hot, then will sit there with the breaks held in in one spot.

Also having pads that are worn out of square with the rotors will cause vibration. If the slides are not moving completely freely or uneven pressure from the cylinders.

If you are having repeated issues with vibration while breaking, try changing the type of break pads

A "Random Thought", or its "Unsolicited Information". Your choice.
I'm extremely hard on brakes, I can't seem to make my truck stay close to the posted speed limits. Driving as I do is hard on my brakes, so I started running ceramic pads. Since the changing over, no more rotor warp. Or, it could just be dumb luck.

Ya know I read that someplace now that ya mention it, it also makes complete sense. A guy at work here at work was saying that for regular use to not get a metallic pad, use organic or semi-metallic. Cause the pad is real hard untill it's warmed up. That those style are best.

And honestly I hardly ever cared about what brake pads I had as long as it stops. But for some reason Im paying more attention to it this time. And a lot of other things too now that I'm thinking about. Hmmm mite be cause I'm not a teenager anymore. 🤔

Alright now I gotta know. Where's RonD that guy would know. Ron! Come explain brake pad composition to me please!

Im pretty sure Ron's brake pads are composed simply of the calluses on his feet... :geek:

If Fred Flintstone got a nail in his foot would he go to a doctor or mechanic?

Drilled rotors tend to crack. Slotted no, but you can't turn them unless you use a special machine which almost no shop has so you end up buying pricey rotors again. The best normal rotors I've found are NAPA Ultra Premium and ceramic pads, they cost more but they're they only ones my wife can't kill in a year and leave very little brake dust. There is a steep 1.5 mile hill coming into our town on her way home from work and she resolutely refuses to downshift out of OD because "it might hurt the transmission".

Did you explain to her that brakes can catch on fire when they get hot?
