Can anybody out there fill me in on how much lube to put in the doubler since the oil pump feature is no longer there? My first guess is to fill it to the point that the oil reaches the bottom of the planetary. Is it still suitable to use ATF or would 80-90 gear oil be preferred? Last question, some ideas on shifting the transfer case now that the original linkage is shifting the doubler. Seems like a power take off cable might work?

Fill it to about the same level that the regular t-case is at.

And as far as Lube goes I've been running 0W50 synthetic motor oil in mine for the past year and it's been great.

Fill it to the brim, where oil just starts coming out the breather. You want as much fluid in there as you can get.

0W50 motor oil works, as well as ATF. Best thing to run is gear oil.

As evan stated, to the vent.

Thanks fellas for the lube info. Now how 'bout searching the collective brain for shifter options. Don't want to have to crawl under and do it by hand!!

Stock shifter still shifts the t-case as if stock, the doubler is 'pull-up/push-down' (up is hi).

BTW, I just have the ATF in mine, been fine for 7000 miles now. I put the breather vent nipple up on top of the housing, then used the original vent hole as the fill hole. Fluid level is maybe just over 1/3 the way up the planetary gears.

Thanks for the pictures and info. From the interior it looks like you have a nice truck. Is it an '89? Are you ttb equipped or solid axle?
