Doorless in ct?

I don't understand why u guys are so scared. I take my doors off and go wheeling quite often. It is a little uneasy at 1st but you do get use to it. I can lean out and better pick your lines too. I have surprised a few folks by making it look so easy but I think the doors being off is the secret. I know when I wheel with them on I tend to have more issues because of my limited view. And before everyone thinks I'm a midget I'm 5'7". The door line on these trucks just seem a little high to me.

On a side note I am in the process of my some 5/8's doors (someone told me they are not really 1/2 doors because I left a little more metal on them). Once I finish them I probably won't go without them again because I will have the best of both worlds.

Doors are good.

They stop me from having to take a pressure washer to the inside of the truck.

I stand up for liberty. On the other hand I think driving around without a door on your car is about the dumbest thing you can do, design intent or not.

Postin' from teh Galaxy

^^^What he said. My 06 Wrangler has tube doors...only for when we go off road. I would never take off the doors on my Ranger or my other trucks...ever!!! Really stupid to do so. Even if offroading only you can kill yourself or somebody you love. Jeeps have roll bars from the factory and are safer that way to run with tube or no doors. If you put a full cage in the truck you will be much safer if you want to run doorless offroad.

well. i agree, that driving without doors in many situations can be stupid. i also agree that driving without a seatbelt in most situations is stupid

we totally agree on that.:icon_thumby:

but i also understand that what the fawk others think is stupid or dangerous does not matter if they want to infringe upon my liberty to be stupid. the fact there are seatbelt laws i find offensive and stupid...stupid in we let our constitutional rights be so flagrantly violated in the name of "safety" that can not even be guaranteed regardless. makes us pathetic and cowards to tolerate such ideals.

luckily the door thing is easily defeated to be legal...most motorcycles dont have rollover protection or seatbelts or doors either. so i cant understand why those stupid fools would ride them around on public roads either....its just stupid. we should outlaw motorcycles, they are not maximally safe.:icon_confused:

yes i am being facetious:thefinger:

If I ran around without doors all the junk laying on the floor would end up in the road. Would have to fab up something to prevent that. Don't like bouncing through the woods without top or doors though. Every time you smash through some foliage you end up with bugs crawling in places you never thought they could get to. Remember when you are in the jungle or the woods its not the animals that will screw you up its the bugs and the plants that will put a hurtin' on ya.

if you have things rolling around on your floors or are driving a motor vehicle
without proper shoes you will be violating laws in almost every state unlike being doorless. doors you can do without with paperwork....no shoes or stuff unsecured on the floor will get you fined or sued in most of ther country if there is a traffic issue..

of course i have tons of shit on my floors as well and i am a blatant violater, but take care to make sure nothing that could impede pedel travel is not on the drivers side.

there are reasons i run doorless, and i do have drop in side skirts to keep my shit in the truck.

main reason....i was sick of fixing door glass and picking it out of my fawking eyes when i fawk the door up off road.

it gets hot in there in the summer with plain steel floors....

my pipes are stouter then the oem rotted doors as well. of course even my oem doors would fail a pa inspection regardless. after a million fawking miles and multiple rollovers, saying doors are in the name of safety will only fall on my deaf ears. i know too many people that have been ejected through perfectly functioning doors after the glass blew out.

life is not safe....reasonable precautions are obviously prudent though.

reasonable of course is what all of the debate and laws and squabbling is about...as it seems common sense is indeed not so common.

its simple. sure its a hideous pile of shit.

but here is something else. it goes better, stops better, and gets better economy with 33-35 inch tires then it did when it rolled off of the assembly line.

so why is it less safe?

and yes i ride motorcycles, even with a broken back.

bobbywalter, Dude your truck is beautiful, doors or not. I really like the rear "bed". I installed doors on my RZR simply to stay cleaner and to prevent from being speared (again, it hurts like hell) by branches and trail brush while flying through the tight woods.:icon_thumby: Here is a pic of my other ranger (rzr).

hey....speed needs doors and other protections. i am not gonna rock race without doorish things that are strong and nets.

i dont have to wear a helmet by law, and i do on my bike as well.

i do have legit reasons to run tubes and variations of.

I'm good with tube doors, half doors, 5/8 doors, etc. I'm just stumped by these guys who take the doors off their truck and drive down the highway.

On a related note I saw a Dodge Caravan going down the road with the side sliders open the other day.

well your opinion matters to me allot so i wanted to be clear where you were with it.

all things in the name of perceived obvious safety has been getting out of hand the last 15 years or so.

so i feel better now.:thefinger:

I disagree with this. I agree that we should all have the right to be stupid, but your rights end where others' being. Not wearing a seat belt in a multi-vehicle accident makes you not wearing it a threat to people in the other vehicle. You may have a right to be stupid, but I have a right to have you not do things that endanger me.

I use the same line of thinking to justify my support of public smoking bans. I hate that smokers are so inconsiderate that we need those kinds of laws, but I do support them.

Also, by your logic it would be easy to argue that drunk driving should not be illegal and we should have no posted speed limits. This can turn into a very slipery slope if you get enough twisted minds following it far enough. That's why we don't let FDOT write local traffic laws.

Half doors FTW.

I only have about 60.00 in BOTH doors. That and a couple hours of time to cut them up. Still gives me that doorless feeling, but still some protection.

I'd really like to fab up some half doors, but with power options on all my stuff I feel like swapping them out would just be such a PITA.

Funny, my Jeep Grand Wagoneer doesn't have a roll bar/cage. I certainly don't run doorless at any time.

When he says "Jeep" he means "Wrangler".

i would say your down the slippery slope a ways already.

if you get in a vehicle its already too late...if your anywhere near any vehicles your fawked. if planes fly overhaed and within earshot....doomed. i know people that would be dead had they actually had a seatbelt on. what the fawk do you tell those people.?.?.?

you have to be vigilant to be free. i support the right of an insurance company to deny a claim if your doing something stupid or not wearing a reasonable amount of protection as well. not to mention your right to not have insurance and have to be a servant if your ass gets in a sling.

public smoking ban? if there are no fossil fuel vehicles or wood stoves within 400 miles...yeah sure i could see that.

tell me i cant have a smoking buisiness and its time to bear arms. if i want to open a smoking bar or roller rink or park for dogwalks or whatever so be it. go somewhere else if you dont like it. goldwater had it right.

drinking and driving....yeah i dont have a problem with that at all.

drunk driving is certainly something to be punished. if people tell me a .04 or .06 is unsafe to drive for anybody and i want to piss down thier back.

you should be able to test this individual determination.

speed limits on open roads? :dunno: no way 65 mph is acceptable past city congestion in a cts-v when there is no traffic. its niether reasonable or prudent in ideal conditions on empty interstate. sorry:dunno: 150 mph ok? no...not really....but how is that determined really.?.

so i am ok with agreeing to disagree.

just nice to know where your at.

your clear and concise efforts here these past few years are well noticed and appreciated and i have a a-stereo-typical understanding of pa folk as you are generally unique in many areas from my experiences over the last 35 years or so..

i am friends with some in the beauraus that handle the mines/safety and have been schooled as requirements for work by them for a few drilling programs. the cross sections of attitude there was vast and seemed regional at that.

on one end...a guy would want a guy jailed for driving with tube doors on a ranger.....on the other the guy sees it as i do.

Leave the doors... lose the roof. :icon_rofl:
