door speaker watts?

i have a 93 ranger and i just took out the stock speakers and they are to-up so i moved the stock speaker in the back to the front doors and wired in my stereo speakers i took off my old home stereo and i was just wondering what was the wattage of the front speakers, i have looked all over the tech library and couldnt find it.

IIRC the OE head unit is about 5-10W RMS, and the speakers are close to that.

yeah i know, i feel like im going to blow em out every time i crank it up too loud, but my truck does sound good, iv got 2 50w "book shelf" speakers behind my jump seats and i moved the stock rear speakers to where they door speakers cuz those were completely trashed.

Keep in mind that a low wattage speaker can still perform if it has a good amp backing it.

and a large wattage speaker can just sound like utter shit if its got a poor amp backing it.

I think baxtej44 mean't they AREN'T rms ratings. Max ratings mean next to nothing, and the rms rating should always be the guide you follow when setting the gains on your amp(s).

When using speakers in a low wattage application its going to be the sensitivity that matters, as well as how clean the power is coming from the HU in this case... its easy to clip the signal trying to get a little more volume. The other thing to look at is the impendence of those home stereo speakers... most car door speakers are 4 ohm, while 8 ohm is very common for home audio. If thats the case then those speakers would be seeing VERY little power from your HU.

i was talkin about the originally mentioned speakers, the door speakers, how they seem so low because they are rms... i wasn't saying that guy had 300w rms speakers lol.. thatd be like a sub rofl.

lol i second this, that's why i didn't buy locally, all the store clerks were like these are 160w speakers, they sound awesome

you can by local, my doors are 100w rms, high ans tweeters can suck up power just like a sub can dont kid your self, go look at alpine type R and look at the rms requirmennts. and then think to your self how load is 400 true watts when its all highs......... hint, vol at 3/4 windows down i only know the 18 wheeler is next to me because i can see it in my side mirror

Well of course you CAN buy local... but there's usually better offerings than Alpine... Focal, Hertz, Rainbow, Zapco, CDT, etc, etc, and everything down to Alpine, RF, and and all that... Of course you will save money by buying online, as well as gaining some valuable knowledge if you read around.

BTW, 4x4fun... WTH are you trying to say? Think out your posts for a min maybe before writing... some of it is fine and alot of it is gibberish. By 400 true watts do you mean the added RMS ratings of all four speakers? Also that doesn't mean thats what they're getting, only what you should be giving them. Components don't "suck" power, they are fed it from an amp. No more or less than is given to them. Therefore, a sub doesn't "suck" anymore power from an amp than a component set does, it just in general is able to handle more power.

im sorry for using the term "suck" out of context,

the point i was trying to make was, highs, mids, and lows can all use a lot of power, they just use it differently. its an inappropriate assumption to think other wise. however most people don't deal with, power hungry high's, so that misconception is easy to make.
