Wire stuff wrong?

Last time I went to tow my ATV I noticed the right turnsignal and running light was not working. I forgot about it after I got on the road. The other night I was undercoating and noticed the green (right turn/tail) wire running down from the rear light to the hitch was melted. The coating was GONE and the wire was nasty.

I looked up a T-Connector for it today at work. Come to find out they don't make a direct plugin model. Seems I had to install a "Heavy duty circuit protector" Whoever wired it just spliced the wires into the running, and turn wires at the light.

The connector it needed to be proper had a converter which I had to run a hotline up to the battery, so when the signal and brake lights come on back on the trailer, it actually pulls the power from the battery and not the lighting circuit on the truck.

My trailer lights are so much brighter now.

My dad has had that before.

But I've just come across some very "halfassed" repairs on my truck. Wires twisted together and covered with electrical tape....:fie:

Or when they have outrageous disgusting messy happy time in the passenger seat and don't tell you about it.

-Me cleaning my truck with my brother after buying it-
"Hey uh.. Dakota.. come look at this.."
"What the hell is that?"
"It looks like splooge"
"How the hell do you know? It could be food or something.."
"Go look in the back seat of my car."
-Walks over to car-
"AWWW SICK WHAT THE HELL?"
"I haven't gotten around to cleaning it."
"Aww hell it looks exactly the same!!"

Agreed on smoking. The tobacco spit and spooge is just disgusting.

I hate when a vehicle smells like anything funky. Like somebody used too many of those cheap air fresheners or left half eaten fast food in it for a couple days. Or if they farted a lot with the windows up.

I considered changing the seats to buckets after that incident.. but I love my center console. Gives me something to rest my arm on.

there are a lot of ways this could have ended.... i always seem to get the vehicle that hasnt been cared for, no routine maintenance, any work thats been done has been done half assed... you get the picture

I had to completely rewire the entire tail light wire harness for the same reason. Some noob wired a trailor light connector directly into the tail lights. didn't solder or anything, twsted the wires and taped them.

The wires were all corroded and nothing left to repair, so i had to put all new wire in from the connector coming from the truck to the pins at the socket. And when I was all done my repairs I went to Canadian Tire and picked up a $35 "T" harness to adapt a trailor connector. Becase thats the way it should be done!

You'll probably like my way of wiring. Everything attached to directly to the battery with its own fuses and relays. Keeps wires neat and I know power source is good with the correct gauge of wire for the job.

Yeah, I could agree. When I bought my first truck, I pulled many wires that were either melted or leading to no where, good thing it didn't catch fire driving it home.

Someone here had found a " adult sex toy " in the Ranger they just bought. Anyone remember who that was ??

I can't remeber who it was, but I remember the post. Oh man that was an epic tale of hilarity.

I'll poke around and see if I can find it.
