Well, i just got my donor truck yesterday for my 4.0 swap (93 ranger 4x4 reg cab 5spd, identical to my splash cept its got a regular bed) He was driving it to my place and he said he pushed in the clutch and heard a loud POP, and the truck wouldnt go into gear. now,if you put the truck into gear and turn the key to start the truck it will take off in gear, but once its outta gear you cannot put it back in unless you turn the engine off. What would cause it to do this? Bad slave cylinder? Throwout bearing broke? Fingers on the pressure plate messed up? the clutch pedal feels identical to my 93s but it wont go into gear while the truck is running.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!!

Thanks,

Something broke inside the bellhousing. You won't be able to tell which without pulling it apart (which you'll need to do to fix it anyway). You can try looking through the inspection hole, but I doubt you'll see too much.

A big puddle of brake fluid would be a hint that the slave blew, but the rest could be lots of things.

It doesn't matter. Pull out the transmission and replace ALL the clutch parts, including the flywheel, inside the bellhousing.

Thanks
