dome light/door ajar malfunction

so i have an 01 ranger and it started a new habbit a few days ago. the dome light wont shut off and the door ajar light stays on all the time. checked the door n all everything seems peachy.. finaly got pissed n just tore the damn bulbs out, itsa bitch tryin to drive at night with that damn light on lol...any thoughts on the issue??

Real common problem. Inside the door latch is the switch mechanism, not like the old buttons in the door jamb. Just take some PB Blaster or WD 40 and spray in there real good, operating the latch while you do it. I had to do it several times.

jumper across sensors until you find one that makes the light go off. then get a new sensor.

I WD40/PB-Blaster mine probably around once or twice a year.

Extremely common problem.

And the switch (for the most part) is the door latch, just hose the whole thing down in there.

both mine and dads rangers have the same problem but it comes and goes all the time. both manual so idc if it drains the battery lol

yup, ive had 3 rangers and they all did it...im not picky, i just took the bulbs out, cheaper than wd40 lol
