doesnt get hot

Mine ranger didnt get hot one winter. I checked the coolant level and it was low. Filled it up and found the leak and had heat all winter.

my brothers heater core was plugged with crap from the GM coolant that general motors uses, its like a clay when mixed with the green stuff he said.
he took his air hose from a compresser and blew it out, reconnected the hoses added a little fluid and has heat now.

alright guys i havent had time to look at the heater but today i am going to..i thought my gauge was working but it isn't..i think its weird no movement in gauge and a heater that doesnt work..if my t stat was bad i would be overheating but im not. any ideas? think i should just replace the t stat and see what happens?

If the T-stat was stuck closed it would overheat, stuck open it does just what you had.

Glad you got it fixed!

well i have another problem...so i replaced my t stat started the truck no leaks heater worked temp gauge worked everything was good i drove aorund for about 1/2 just to make sure there were no leaks... everything was good. next morning i drive to school and get out of my truck and there is coolant pouring out onto the ground. i take off my radiator cap fill it and drive home later on. i start the truck and let it idle...no leaks drive aorund for about 1/2 everythings good i figured i didnt put the radiator cap on right or something like that. i drive to school this morning and coolants pouring out! help! got any ideas i couldnt see it comming out anywhere

yeah but i had my heater on at night to though so wouldnt it leak out then also? where is my heater control valve located?

im having the same problem with my 88 ranger,,, it blows just fine, xcept when the heat is on its not hot, or warm, its just not cold, which really bites a big one.

but what i dont understand is that i can drive the 90 miles to kansas city drive around town and drive back, and the heat be only just a little bit warmer... can sum1 tell me whats wrong?
