Does the old ford key programming trick still work?

Just wanted to update. The old school turn the key on and off 8 times thing worked fine to program the fob part on the IKT key. I didn't cut the key yet so will report back if i can get the transponder programmed. My local ace hardware couldn't figure out how to cut the stupid thing so I gotta find a real locksmith.

Keyless entry(buttons) and PATS(key) are separate systems, no crossover

Key must be cloned to match existing WORKING key's PATS number or you need to have a locksmith add the new PATS key number to the PATS memory

Not all keys can be cloned, it must be a "blank" RFID tag inside, and you need an RFID reader/writer, most locksmiths have the reader/writers, so if you bring in a working PATS key they can cut the new key to match lock and then "read" working keys number and "write" it to the new key
So PATS thinks they are the same key, and you have a cheaper spare key

I'd have been more surprised if it didn't.

That means you should be able to program the key part too.

All done and 100% working, just got it cut. The transponder programmed easy. Insert key 1 and turn off and on, insert key 2 and turn off an on, insert new key 3 and start the car. The new key works just like the originals now. Thanks guys.

Kudos ford for sticking to the old tricks!

P.S it cost 25 bucks to have it cut since it's a side cut key and the key itself only cost 20
