that's a difference of .00246", kinda makes them interchangeable.
if I get a loose fit on a bolt I grab the conversion chart and grab whatever is the next smaller size, mm or fractional
It was more than likely a 9/32. since most basic socket sets don't include this he probably rounded it out so nothing will fit properly. I still say cut them out and replace them. I had to do that on the PT. The carriage bolt square shoulder got rounded out so it was just spinning. Cut it out with a bolt cutter and put new ones in. Good for another 15 years. lol. (15 years was how old the battery was when I replaced it and yes it was actually still starting the car too)
