I was there back in the 80's and the 90's for a few days at a time visiting friends when I was TDY. Things change over the years, it be be better or worse. I did not want to live there. Crime was high then but it could be better now. My friends left back in 2002. They got tired of it. The cost of living has gone down there and the home sales prices have diminished so much. You can Google the area and search for cost of living, home sales, unemployment...etc.
