yeah, well I spent 6 hours standing in frozen mud today because the loader didn't think it safe for me to wait in my truck. today I hated my job and wished I had just stayed in the office.

I love my job. Dealing with a broken cars is a zillion times easier than dealing with douchebag customers who won't listen to reason after you've driven 2 hours to see them. I don't miss commercial sales whatsoever.

I am semi-retired and work for myself from home. On a typical day I roll out of bed when it feels right, have a couple cups of coffee, and stroll down to the basement to do whatever work may be there. I engrave graphics on steel dies which are used to create medallions and tokens. I deal business to business, so there are no irate customers.

Looking back, my advice is to start your own small business; You don't need much work coming in to earn more than working for others. All expenses are deductible, and you get to keep all the net profit without someone saying it's too much. It's not that hard to fill a niche market that is too small for the big boys to be interested in.
