DJ's 1998 Ranger aka "Pappy's Truck"

So sorry for your loss DJ. It gets easier, but will always hurt.

My Ranger is my late grandfather-in-laws that I acquired after he passed. He was 98 years old and a WW2 vet. I too find myself grabbing those keys over my '22 F150 most days (I've followed your F150 build on the other forum as well). There's just something about driving the Ranger that I love. It has some sort of soul that isnt there on the newer trucks. Perhaps its the memory/energy of the previous owner. I know you enjoy driving yours as much as I do mine.
Theres a lot of memories that i have of just my grandpa and myself riding around in that truck.

Part of what I like so much about this truck is how simple it is. Manual trans, manual locks, crank windows. You can see everything under the hood

Thanks for all the condolences, everyone. I'm trying to see if i can transport his casket in the bed of his truck from the funeral home to the cemetery so he can have one last ride

My condolences on your loss. That's a really nice idea. Wishing you strength in the days that come.

I like that; it's fitting, and I think that he'd be pleased.

Great looking, super clean Ranger. My Dad ordered new Ranger in 2000. It was a nice truck that was total when it was10 years old.

Well the service was yesterday, I got to do what I wanted to do, i transported his urn from the funeral home to the cemetery in his truck while my wife was holding it. It was all i could do to hold it together during the couple block drive over.

Love that you were able to do that for him, RIP Pappy.

It makes me happy you got to give him one last ride in the trusty ranger.

The hardest part is over now. Hang in there brother ❤️

Just doing some little odds and ends to the truck over the past few weeks. Replaced the fan clutch and this past weekend took the washer / coolant tank combo out to clean the overflow bottle, there was a lot of old gunk in there and made the coolant look brown from the outside even though it was nice and green. BTW whoever designed this set up should be taken out to the woodshed...

It probably saved Ford a few pennies going with that. It sucks for everyone else, but it was great for Ford.

oh for sure, what really annoyed me was the 3 fasteners that are easily accessible but they decided to bury one under the airbox
