Hi,
My directionals dont work when my headlights are on. They work fine without lifhts but once i turn my lights on the directional indicators on the dash both come on real dim, then when i hit the switch neither directional comes on. The hazzards also dont work.

Thanks
Pat

Post some particulars about your truck. What year? Does it have daytime running light?

Sounds like it could be a problem in the multifunction switch, but I have seen something similar happen when one of you tail light bulbs is not grounding properly.

Post the truck particulars and someone with a wiring diagram for that year should be about to figure it out.

Thanks for the reply. The truck is a 1997 ford ranger 2.3 l 2wd. I had the bed removed for a fuel sending unit. I put it back on yesterday and drove it around. Everything seemed to work okay. But now this is happening. It appears that now the directionals flash at a quicker rate then before when the lights are off. Still no directionals with the lights on.

sounds like a bad ground or connection in the harness most likely at the connector

Yeah, sounds like a bad ground.

My 97 ranger wiring diagram says the ground wires are black. The common ground for all those rear lights is behind the left cowl panel.
