Dipstick accuracy?

Hm... Oil pan looks fine. I am wondering about the dipstick though. It's definitely a Ford one - Ford part number F07E-6750-AA. Can anyone confirm if that's the right one for the 4.0 OHV? Google and Ford part searches aren't turning up anything.

Thanks.

-Bill

That's the same dipstick my '94 4.0 has. Here are the capacities from Ford:

CAPACITY, Refill:

Note: Capacity shown is without filter. When replacing filter, additional oil may be needed.

3.0L 3.5 qt (US)
2.3L, 4.0L 4.0 qt (US)

VISCOSITY All Temperatures
5W-30 (Preferred)

10W-30 (Above 0 F [-18 C])

Note these are without the filter. The filter will hold ½ quart or so. I have noticed that when I change my oil & filter and I put in 5 quarts, it's always a little over the "full" mark even after I've run the engine. I don't worry about it.

Also note that 5W-30 is always preferred.

That's because it's a Chevy. It's a GREAT thing that the 4.0 uses the big 'ol FL-1A. From personal experience, Trailblazers are JUNK like the Blazers they replaced.
