i have a 97 ranger with the 2.3liter, i had 14 inch wheels and stock tire but recently got some 15 inch wheels with 28inch BFGs. i noticed that because of the bigger tires the truck is slower on acceleration, i know i can do some different gearing in the diff but im not sure what i should go with, if anyone has any info please let me know. i know the truck isnt going to be a rocket but im just looking to counter out the bigger tires.

Something shorter than what you have now is all the info I can provide wothout knowing specifics...

Well....click on the tech section and find out what your current gear ratio is...

Do that, and we'll be able to help you.

There is an easy to use calculator on the Mark Williams Enterprises web site , after you find out what gear is in the truck. Put the original data in the formula to get the target rpm and then change the rear axle ratio with the taller tire size to get back to your rpm number. On my 84 I went from 25 to 28 inch tires and changed one gear size(3.54 to 3.73), it helped but I should have gone to a 4.10....2.0 5spd...I need all the help I can get in the power dept...
