Diesel Ranger?

1st Gens from around 85 to 88 had an available diesel. The diesel used in South American Rangers will not pass emissions standards in the U.S.

Occasionally an old diesel Ranger will turn up on eBay and someone will post it here. Thing is, they used a totally different tranny and if you ever need tranny parts you're SOL.

So what is different about the tranny? I know the bellhouing on the 85-87 Rangers with the 2.3 mitsubishi turbo diesel is different, but what else makes them different?

how do we go about getting hold of ford on getting a deisel engin. im sure if we all pulled togeather and sent in some sort of concern they may get a hint. i am willing to rase my voice for it.

Good luck with that... Ford wouldn't make money bringing a diesel Ranger here for just the people on TRS... Out of everyone who whines that they want a diesel Ranger, how many would actually go and buy a brand new one? What most people here want is for Ford to have already brought them here so we can buy them used... Which makes Ford no money...

I would buy one if it was 4wd and came in Manual Transmission.

If we had the choice the rest of the world does a Ranger wouldn't be my first pick, but if it's all there was... Well, I still wouldn't buy one new off the showroom floor... Just doesn't make sense to me...
