How big is the gas tank..?
Always amazed how these new motors get such good mileage with the power they have. I always got 25-27 mpg driving 72 mph on the interstate with my 300 hp '05'. Just got back from Ill Annoys, long Easter weekend and got just over 20 mpg with the '07' but it's pushing a bunch of ponies. Had it up to 90 once, still in third and running about 4500 rpm. These cars can scare and kill, be careful out there.

We've gotten the average MPG reading on the Escape up to 28.
My '66 Mustang gets a solid 23-24 mpg on the highway (289 2-barrel, automatic, 2.80 rear end), but it's certainly not 412 horsepower!
I like the Mustang's 3.7L engine numbers. It pushes 300HP (which is more than enough for most everyday drivers) and gets just over 30MPG on the highway. Mustang's 3.7L engine + Ranger = a fun, no nonsense, fuel economy pickup. Enough torque to tow that 6,000lbs trailers, enough power to easily cruise down the highway, and fuel efficent enough to go the extra miles.
Last summer I had the pleasure to watch a brand new 3.7 Mustang, 6sd automatic and 2.?? gears thrash on two newer GTO's at the local 1/8'th mile track. Dunno if they were LS1 or LS2's but they couldn't get a word in edgewise... against a base V6 Mustang.![]()
