I've been scanning the web for a decent V8 Explorer/Mountineer 2 wheel drive. All I've been finding is 4x4. All the 2 wheel drives are V6 trucks. Maybe that wasn't an option?

Yes they did. I've seen several for sale over the years.

They had to build more 4X2's than 4X4's. I didn't look to see your location, if you're from up north that may explain why. Try looking in TX or FL (online) and see whats around. My zip is 78130 if you want to try it and see... we've got lots of rust-free vehicles for sale around here.

They are easier to find in the mercury mountaineer. I hada 98 with the 5.0.

I don't understand why you want one, they are ill handling nastiness.

The "4x4" aren't really 4x4 at all but FULL TIME Viscous coupling AWD.

No computers speed sensors etc,

the AWD is everything the 2wd isn't.

1998 Explorer Limited V8

I'm looking at purchasing one of two 1998 Explorer Limited V8 models, and one states AWD, the other states 2WD. While researching on Edmunds.com and looking at the complete list of available models for 1998, no where does it show a 2WD V8 Limited model available for 1998.

Perhaps the person who is selling the one saying it's 2WD thinks it's 2WD because there is no 4WD switch on the dash?

So my question is this: Can anyone help me out and give me a definite answer on whether or not all V8 Limited models were AWD?

Thank you!
