did 4:56s come stock

Ha ha ha ha.....no US Ranger was sold to the private individual with 4.56 gears in them......some states DNR got them, but not a lot......

My info on this comes from a dealership........

that doesnt mean they wont end up being resold or wrecked and junked.

Good luck finding one.....they are VERY rare....if you havent noticed, most DNR trucks are full size trucks

Heres one for yah. its too bad Aerostars dont coem with 8.8's? because i know they come with coil sprung 7.5's and some had stock 4.56's

I checked at work, no Ranger or F-150 ever came with 4.56 gears in a 8.8 axle.

A lot of 2wd Aerostars came with 8.8's....AWD's came with 7.5's for some reason.....More knowledgable people will weigh in as to why, but I have personally seen and crushed (buddy works at a wrecking yard) several Aerostar 8.8's....

And they never installed 4.0 in Bronco II's either. I have seen two. With all factory correct emmisions labels.

You guys need to remember that FLEET vehicles are not normally included in Ford's production reports. The vehicle's are special ordered. I can tell you for a fact that some of the Gen 1 Rangers that were purchased by ODOT and ODNR had D28's with L/S. That's another option that most say were so rare.

For some reason, a lot of the full sized vans that I have seen have D44's under them (or D60's for the 3/4 tons), but that is not to say that they didn't put 8.8's under them too.

Getting back to the original question, 4.56's are as scarce as hen's teeth in RBV's. As listed above, check out DNR or other government rigs, but I wouldn't hold my breath for finding one in the junk yard.

hick

I ran across this one of many at www.car-part.com. What does the code 97 translate to? Seems to be about 10 with the 4.56 listed.

they are full of crap.....the axle code 97 is an open carrier 8.8 w/ 4.10 gears....

read what has been posted......it has been posted a couple times that non-normal production COULD have them...

Yes and I've seen a 3.8l in a F-150 and a 5.0L HO in a 85 LTD II. As for 4.56 in a 7.5 or 8.8 ....NO. Rare fleet orders or not, parts are parts when I go to the back counter and ask the partsmen " Did Rangers or F-150's ever come with 4.56 gears ??" They go into G-CAT ( the Ford parts catalog on the computer ) and come back with nil.

And D-28 limited slips were an option very early on. So was a Snowplow package, air bags in the front springs. Probably the same option.

My mistake all. I looked at the door sticker and it was smudged.
