Heck, a couple weeks ago, I lost a mailbox due to some idiot looking at their phone instead if driving. Next time I have to replace it, I'm getting out the welder, a bunch of steel and a couple bags of concrete.

Mine is a 6cyl crankshaft bolted to a flywheel for a base with a plate on the end for the mailbox to screw to.

Just keep going forwards.

When I was a kid a guy down the street made his mailbox post out of a huge chunk of I beam. One night a drunk ran into it and got killed. Instead of blaming the drunk idiot the township decided to ban all street mailboxes. You could only have your mailbox attached to your house from then on...

The tree that is 4' behind the mailbox will hurt more than whatever my mailbox post is made out of, its set back from the road like 30'. Its big and heavy but not really secure, dad's has been knocked over by semi trucks a couple times. He started building them because he got tired of digging post holes. When they get knocked over you just flip them back up and drive the stakes back down.
