after the muffler, increase the pipe size up to 2 1/2. It will make the muffler sound better imo.

whats the size of the pipes before muffler, and doest it sound much different from manifolds to headers. and is there a big sound difference between the flowmaster 40 and 44

The cats are on a 2 1/2 pipe, If you cut the exhaust off just before the rear flange on the cat you can have a full 2 1/2" exhaust and not have any adapters. The supper 44 is probably a bit louder than the 40.

this is what i have done with every ranger, pick up the dual exhaust from LMC truck, its a sweet system and everything bolts right in, and get a set of headers for the truck aswell shortys so u can use the factory y pipe, that combintaion makes a 2.9 sound like a small block every time ive done it (over 20) LOL

i still say the best sounding is the resonated exhaust from LMC truck, no mufflers just resonated tips gives it a nic low grumble

Sorry, straight pipes can not and will not rumble more than a chambered muffler.

ya i just bought a magnaflow for my 94 b3000 3L i havnt put it on but im hoping it sounds decent i know what ya mean about the rice rocket sound i dont want that either , but magnaflow have good mufflers life time warrenty with good sound,
