Deck install on 83 ranger? Help!

Tomorrow i wanted to jump on installing a newer deck into my 83 ranger.
I Have the deck and speakers...

But there was like 5 cords and i had a good idea to what goes to what but tell me anyways...

However i would like to know about the cage?
are people making brackets?
are people drilling into dash?

I Have a brushed aluminum dash from an 85 i think which fits newer decks alot better....

Please let me know

ranger deck

the 85 dash piece is the way to go you can put din style radio with any cutting of the dash and all the center lights match in the dash, compared to the original 83 dash opening that needs to be cut and never seems to look right, usually the cage with the radio works with no problems, what brand radio is it and what are the colors

Hmmm I Have had my truck a week and have got ALOT done since...
But it seems i might have somewiring problems...
Becuase the only lights on my dash that light up are the center lights (4x4,seatbelt, etc) My speedometer doesnt work same with my temp... my gas does! i gotta figure that out quick...
Its an RCA Deck...
And where do you mount the cage? i took a gander and was thinkin a bracket of some sort...

And yea that 83 wood grain had to go (No offense) lol
i saw the brushed aluminum looking one and fell in love and it happened to have perfect deck cutouts DOUBLE PLUS!

Oh and i saw
Yellow with a box prob in line fuse?
Red
Couple speaker wires
Ant.

I think thats all you need anyways...
maybe a ground but thats easy!

15$ at a pick n pull..
Im in a pretty good location i have 4-5 that are real good with parts.
And theres a crap load of ranger's and bronco's that alot of people arent reall messing with so i have alot to choose from lol.

Any ideas on my question?

anyway, i believe 85's and 88's are the same gen correct? not sure, but if so, i got a bracket from the store to mount, and a wiring harness adaptor and it was as easy as that.

i pushed mine as far back as I could so it would be harder for somebody to try and pop it out. could also do the razorblade trick...

You said you bought a bracket what does it connect to?
And which store did you buy your Harness and bracket?

you might be able to zoom in on that some.


there are four screws that hold the entire deck assembly suspended in air.


i believe the bracket is from walmart, wiring harness i believe was from best buy.


however, this was a year ago and somebody else bought them, and basically installed the whole thing for me.

good luck, i'm sure they will have one... they usually have them that say that they fit a few different makes, possibly years not sure.
