- If you don't have time to do it right will you have time to do it over?
In the fall of 1973 I bought a 67 Corvette, on December 27th A VW squareback backed out of a driveway in front of me and stopped dead in the road. By the time I realised he wasn't going to drive away it was too late to stop and I ran into him. The local Chevy dealer estimated $1100 to fix it so I got $1000 from insurance. Willy Dulac ran a body shop that did a lot of Vettes so I called him, he said he could fix it right for $2200. I was 19, earning about $2 an hour, $2200 might as well have been a million. Between the insurance money and what I sold it for, I made a profit but I was not happy about it.
