Dead in the water. Manual steering pitman arm

I have an 85 Ranger 4x4 parts truck with manual steering. Steering is still intact. Just throwing this up here if someone is in need.

For anyone reading, the Ranger manual box does indeed use the common smaller sector shaft spline - Pitman arms from a Jeep Cherokee or Saginaw 525/605 gear will fit. Although, the alignment slots/square splines may be different.

I'd be interested in the manual box and pitman arm.

Is your truck 2 or 4 WD? 2WD manual steering rangers show up in the Portland Oregon pick and pull occasionally. LMK if you want me to snag something. Yard price + a little for time gas and postage. I would recommend that you buy a remanufactured gearbox rather than trying to take one off of a yard truck. The Pittman arms themselves are pretty indestructible.

1997 4x4 XLT supercab is the truck I'm thinking of trying it on.
I can probably get a rebuild kit for the box.
At any rate, I don't know if it's a good idea or not.
The truck is on 31" tires and it's set up like a cross between a prerunner and a rally truck, so I don't take it out 4 wheeling.
Dirt roads and drifting in the corners etc.

I really appreciate your offering to help me out.
I will definitely get back to you on this.
I'm going to try taking the belt off the pump to get a vague impression, as a true manual box will steer better.

Thanks again!

Happy to help, I’ve learned a lot from others on this forum, it’s a ‘go to’ for info. Let me know. Cheers!
