like the title states my dash brake light comes on only if i press brakes when i start the truck. if i dont press the brakes then the light dosnt come on. i have a 1990 2.3 ranger 2wd converted to 4x4 with a dana 30 sas and an explorer 8.8 rear end. just wondering if anyone has ran into this before. im stumped thanks
That light comes on if the fluid level is below what it should be...could indicate that a rear cylinder is slowly leaking...or a brake line has a crack in it and the fluid is leaking...happened on my Tempo...and I didn't quite get to checking the fluid level until I lost all my brakes...
If the fluid level is OK...check the contacts of the plug on the master cylinder...they may be corroded.
EDIT: If it only happens when you start the truck with your foot on the brake...well...that I've never seen...on other vehicles the brake light (and others) comes on when first starting...but they all go out when the truck is running...not an issue as long as the light goes out...and the fluid isn't dropping~
brake level is fine, no leak at all. the light actually dosnt come on when started with the foot off the brake. its just very annoying since im wanting to sell the truck but cant since this light comes on. thanks for the advice
