what really makes this story sad is that the 7 year old girl probably wasn't the one who wanted to get close. most likely a Dad "who knows best" and thinks the "dumb park rangers are just being pricks". . .FYI being a park ranger in a large park like Acadia or Yellowstone actually requires a bachelors in college and even sometimes a masters, i know this because that is my eventual dream job, but alas.

its just sad to see a defenseless child suffer for an adults bad judgment. just my $.02

Wasn't it Darwin that came up with the theory of "Natural Selection". Seriously, if people can be that stupid and not understand the amount of power they are against. Something bad will happen.
