dangerranger1983 build


I bought a 2000 s10 (see previous posts). Couldn't find a ranger in my price range but was tired of getting crappy mpgs with my tbird so I bit the bullet bought it and sold my tbird.
 
Pinch me I must be dreaming. Just bought torque monster headers for the ranger for $120 off a buddy off Facebook they are going back to OEM manifolds. He has a 2000 ranger with an explorer 5.0, d30 SAS, etc... the driverside was slightly modded to clear the steering shaft but shouldn't hurt my application. As soon as he gets his OEM ones installed he will be shipping then out to me in a few weeks.

 
Nice score! I picked up a 99 explorer the other day for $300, 140k on the clock and it runs great, even has a disc 8.8 with limited slip in the back.

Body is rough. Bought it for parts (engine and tear axle). Almost has no front clip, needs a new hood, two of the doors are heavily dented and the underside is pretty rust.

No, damn thing is plagued by electrical gremlins. Last time i messed with it, something caused the coil, dspark box and i am pretty sure the dizzy to fry. Its been a rough year so i have had no interest in poking at it.

Thats the plan. Doing research on the wiring. The explorer wiring seems a bit over the top, i like the idea of the mustang stuff like you are doing. But money is tight right now.

Since you are part of v8 ranger swap group, Rick Addictioncreationz knows what it takes to install it or aka SVTranger here on TRS.
 
I have a full garage to work in now vs not having tio do everything out in the weather. But having a child, fiancee I'm marrying this coming February, more bills, etc...vs when I didn't have any of that when I built my truck made a huge difference.

The efi swap is coming this next spring. Want to be able to jump in, start my truck and drive and hopefully get better mpgs too. Also get a better exhaust system on her and the 8.8 under too.

But because firearm season for deer starts this Saturday, not much going to be done on the truck the rest of the year.

I am active on Facebook helping others with their rangers and ones who want to do a v8 swap in the group "v8 ranger swap group" that I'm admin of.

Got a little bit of a lead on me, I have gotten a place of my own (my garage) and a gf but no kid yet. And I have an acreage too so I have plenty to do besides work on my truck.

I have no complaints on my carb though, it starts and runs like it is injected when cold. More MPG would be nice but I think cruising at 3k rpm is the blame for that.

Mine is hard to start, no clue why...crank and crank and crank then she fires up.
 
Update. The headers will be shipped Monday. Long story short, my buddy works in the air force and the f16 that crashed a few days ago in Arizona kept him from being able to ship them out Wednesday so first thing Monday he is shipping them out.
 
Brown Santa came. Next will be gt40 heads.



 
More progress on gathering parts. Brown santa came with intake gaskets, the high pressure fuel pump and msd rotor.
