dangerranger1983 build

Trucks parked again but that's because my dad and I will be starting the SAS very soon.

:icon_cheers:

About time. Your going to have fun. Take tons of pictures as you go. I wish I would of taken more of the whole process to look back and see what I did...

How is your shackle angle with the weight of the bed on? I don't like the way mine is. Shouldn't it be as close to upright as posible for ride quality?

I will take pics but uploading them without a computer will make things harder (and I don't own a cell phone).

The shackle angle didn't changed with the bed being put on.

I hope to start doing this Tuesday????? but we will see (aka day off work).

Have you decided on front springs yet? How about the trackbar?

It came with xj coils that are 21 inches free length that I am going to try to use. The track bar will be a stock one from a cherokee that I got from the j/y. Worse comes to worse one or the other may not do the job (or both) I can still order different ones but I'm trying to do this on a budget but while still not compremising safety.

Hopefully I can start it Tuesday, today we changed spark plugs on thr van and as my dad and I were finishing up, he broke a fitting off the engine that sends coolant to the heater core (made of die cast aluminum) and we had to order a part to get it fixed and since we are waiting for that come in, I have to drive the ranger until then.

Tomorrow I need to call oskar winskey to see how much angle and flat steel will cost me. People at my work give me crap about what I have done so far to my truck and ask why and say its so stupid. I say if you don't like what I do with my truck, keep it to yourself and don't look at it. My truck, I do what I want.

i get that too, everyone is just jealous cause we are building it, and not buying it off the showroom.

I don't think you can really find a truck with a solid axle off the show doom floor anymore (don't quote me on that) but most I see are IFS. They say "why don't you just buy a newer truck", I say because it costs more and I would still do the samething to it. I have yet to see a SAS ranger in person.

I agree, far from an average truck.

Just got back from buying the steel needed to get it started, only costed $13 and came from a place that's a mile away and never knew they were there.

Now to get the van fixed so I stop driving the ranger.

I need to find a way to get pics. on here........

when i started work on my truck i kinda got the same thing. now that it's done none of them ask why i did it. (kept tellin me to just buy a sus lift). the only thing that i really wish was different is if i woulda done all this to a super cab.

That's one thing I wish my ranger was, a super cab with the 7ft bed. I can make it a super cab but I would have to have the short bed. I found out how either A. how gutless my ranger is or B. how terrible I am at doing burnouts with a manual tranny. All I managed to do was create a lot of smoke comming out my tail pipe and make my clutch smell. I had the clutch fully let off but I think I was pushing the break pedal to much keeping the rears from spinning.

Nuff of that, now on to tomorrows SAS todo list.........

Get angle iron welded to long arm brackets
Take careful measurements of where the wheels are (like they are straight anyways).
Maybe get the long arms assembled and ready to put on the D30.

Oh ya, and look up escorts track bar bracket and look at (copy) his design.

I might look into an adjustable track bar (anybody have a link to where they got there's)?

check my thread, i am sure i have a link on there

My track bar bracket was a good idea but I need to modify it. The hole for the bar needs to be moved up an inch to help reduce the bump steer I have. And I had to make a brace for it that mounts to the crossmember cause it was flexing.

I will be glad to help with what I can. I wish I had someone to give me their opinion when I was working on mine, would of helped.
