Dang social media

I am anti social. I am anti media.

I am extremely anti social media.

Screw FB, Mark Zuckerberg can suck a donkey dick.

Who knew ^ :icon_rofl:

without facebook, twitter, or even a cell phone, I frequently drive 5-1/2 hours one way in the middle of the night from Ohio to upper Michigan just to gaze at the night sky in hopes of seeing the Auroras.

it's fun being retired.

I would love that.

HA,,,, they won't get 'nuttin from me!!!!! :icon_confused:

Yeah. It's hard to read brain waves from somebody who doesn't have one.

I'm sorry, PJ, you left yourself open for that one, and I couldn't resist. It really is a bad habit that I have.

Facebook is killing enthusiast sites. I regret having a TRS facebook page. I had created it hoping to reach more people.

When people post shit on facebook, it's hard to follow compared to a discussion thread in a forum. All of the enthusiast groups / social groups today are under the control of Mark Zuckerberg.

I created the RRORC. My goal was for it to be an ELITE group of Ford Ranger off-road enthusiasts. I left it to focus on TRS. Today, rrorc.com is gone. If I understand correctly, that group is just a Mark Zuckerberg owned group on facebook now.

Facebook groups have no real control over their online presence. From time to time, I seek input from our users when I'm considering changes to the site. This current forum setup has continued running vbulletin, because I asked for our users input, and that's what they wanted. Groups have no real control over their facebook page except for the image at the top. Instead of supporting a site created by an actual enthusiast and member of the group, they use part of Mark Zuckerbergs website where they have no control over it, and make him rich in the process.

I agree with Jim here.

What makes TRS so special is that it is truly made up of its members. People who actually care about other members and their trucks. Who support new people to the forum whether they have been turning wrenches for 30 years or are just getting started.

Its not to often that we have an argument with each other. That's not to say that we don't have our moments. I have seen in a few old threads that people get into it but if you read on some one ends up apologizing.

This forum is as it should be in my honest opinion, and all those who staff it do a great job of maintaining it.

Now as for what could be done to straighten out Facebook I have no idea... I guess ill just start trying to promote this forum more and see if I cant stir up some new found interest.

We spend all of our time socializing behind a computer screen. We need to start socializing in person. I need to build a Ranger, and take TRS to the people.

wow.....i went from bowerston to houghton lake a few weeks back to go riding with my son and caught some rare bars of aurora....that made the trip epic...unfortunately my son was injured after the throttle stuck wide open...but he is ok now. there were a few years we would be salmon fishing and it was very visible.

I live in South Mississippi and it is.

P.S.
Facebook is the devil.

It is what you want it to be.

For me it is basically machine related. I have learned a lot about history because of it. Found a lot of good books too.

I don't like drama, I have a tidy friends list which is mostly family and I am not afraid to unfollow or unfriend if required.

There has been a troubling amount of "sponsored" ads lately (like in the past week) that I don't agree with. My first reaction was to boycott... then I thought I would be better off to just report them to tie up their resources looking thru everything I feel is "false or misleading"

I have actually met at least 4 of the members here, usually selling or trading parts. Some great people here and way too much info that needs to be spread.
Dave

I have 4 members from here currently chained up in my basement...

I can't stand facebook. Seems like no matter where I go, I hear facebook this, facebook that or I saw this on facebook. I feel sorry for kids and young adults now days that people got by without facebook BEFORE it was around.

Yeah, but sometimes we get out and post things on TRS and eat all your ice-cream. Oh yeah, you're out of ice cream.

I wasn't going to say anything. I was afraid he had a sex dungeon.

I like this thread.

I hate Facebook and refuse to participate although I did try it a while back. What I really hate is businesses having a Facebook page and no website. Especially restaurants. It's not difficult to build a simple web page listing location, hours of operation and menus. At work, our phones and computers are blocked from visiting social media sites. So if the restaurant is only on FB, we can't look up their menu to put together a lunch order.

I know that's minor. I'll find something more worthy to complain about later.

This message composed solely of recycled electrons. Go green!
