Ok guys, I just picked up a HP D30 out of an 87' camanchee(sp). Im using this axle as a temporary thing for my SAS with leafs. Im cuting all the four link brackets off so i can weld on spring purches. My question is, with the CAD can that cast piece be ground off? Or is there two axle tubes on the drivers side and that holds them togather? I got the axle, complete ready to throw in for $25. So it will work for now. I also made my front spring hanger today. All i need to do is order my leafs and off set shackles and its SAS time:icon_hornsup:

I believe its two pieces. you could make a simple cable control to utilise the cad. or just fix the collar into the engaged position. While you still have the axle out check the shift yolk in the cad, they tend to crack.

Did you know that the comanchee's front axle is not at wide as a regular jeep. I believe it is skinnier by almost 2 inches.

The front diff in the 91 commanche that my buddy built was the same width as a YJ front axle that we put in it when he swapped to leafs in the front.
