dana 35 rebuild.?'s

i plan on taking my dana 35 with auto hubs and ABS down to its bare bones and rebuiling it. I want to use all new parts designed for a non abs manual hubs dana 35.. this should not be a problem correct? any differences in knuckle design in the abs models?
I will only be reusing the pumpkin(which now has 5.13's and aussie locker!) the axle shafts, knuckles and the ttb beams.
i wont have to worry about the manual hub conversion parts if all the new spindles/bearings and what not are designed for manual hubs and non abs right? i should just be able to use outer wheel bearing and race designed for non abs manual hub and slide my new warn manual jeep hubs right on correct?
I dont even know if there is any real design difference in the bearings.. so this may not be relevent.
just want to be sure i am not missing any parts.. if i get bearings and new spindles all for manual hubs.. the warn jeep ones will slip right on.. no other parts needed?

sorry if i am confusing.. i am confused myself on the matter so its hard not to be

If your whole goal is to eliminate the ABS why dont you just unplud the sensors or remove the fuse? i have a d35 in my 88' Ranger that dosent even have the sensors installed anymore and theres no braking problems at all...ive never seen one without ABS? but it up to you..jyst seems like a ton of work for something that could be fixed another way...hope this help

The knuckles and spindles may be slightly different to accommodate the ABS sensor, but I'm pretty sure they will interchange as long as you stay on the same side of '90-'94 and '95-'97.

To swap parts across those years you will have to swap the knuckles, spindles, rotors and brake calipers together. Bearings and locking hubs are still the same though.

as i gather it i should need the following and nothing else.. please let me know if i am missing something.
__-from the inside out-__
-axle seals for the pumpkin (both sides)
-needle bearing seal & spindle needle bearing (both sides)
-spindle seat
-Dana 35 TTB Spindle Kit P/N 707166X these are the new spindles from the TRS store for non abs. (for both sides)
-grease seal (dont remember if spindle kit has them already or not)
-hub inner bearing and race (both sides)
-rotor (both sides)
-hub outer bearing and race
- ??__ Stage 8 X-Lock Spindle Nut System P/N ST8DNA-44 this is also in the store and i believe the correct part number for dana 35 (once again both sides)
- i should them be able to plop my warn jeep hubs right on.. right???? lol


i will also be adding new ball joints new brakes the u joint upgrade (welded full circle clips w/ spicer joints) and the passenger side clip eliminator mod.

any input would be great

not just trying to get rid of abs.. i do actually want to rebuild the whole assembly, pulled it from a junk yard where it had been sitting. has not yet been put up under my ranger. just wanted to be sure there is no problem using non abs parts in the shell of what was once an abs ttb.

i pulled the dana 35 from a 93 explorer and would be ordering non abs manual hub parts for the same year.

ahh ok i gotcha yeah the only difference you should notice between the two would be on the spindle and it will be minor..there is a sensor on the ABS spindle that would nopt be there on the non-abs spindle...

and warn makes a automatc to manual hub conversion kit that includes the manual hubs and the locknuts for the conversion...i got mine ordered from a local autoparts store but i have seen several at junkyards and run accross them for sale in the classifieds on here as well..i dont believe the d35 came with the manual hubs from the factory

These unfortunately will not fit inside a D35 hub.

Just torque the outer stock nut to 250ft-lbs. This seems to do just as good a job (I've never once had mine come loose, and most others report the same after torquing theirs to that).

Yes they did, but it was a "delete" option (together with the manual T-case). They are not as common as the autos because of that.

yeah the factory manual hubs are rare ive NEVER seen a pair at a JY and ive seen a lot of d35's lol...the spindle nut kit is sold seperately from the warn hubs...but you may have bought them both?

yeah the conversion kit includes two locknuts for each side and a lock washer for each side...you simple replace the stock auto locking mechanism that is currently in there with the new locknuts provided...very simple. then you just slide you manual hub over top the spindle. easy as it gets.
