dana 30 build Q's I allready know its weak

i understand the logic of a solid axle being better in that terrain. what i meant was what is the logic in only doing it for mud/snow.... instead of any situation.

because unless you are going to run more power than a Semi or go bigger than 35x12.50 tire you don't need a straight axle. the TTB mystery has been figured out by 4x4 Junkie and Joel and a few others I can't think of off the top of my head........ i would, however, swap in a 44 TTB and convert to 8 lug using corp 10b outers and a 14b in the back for anything more that trail riding.

although I now understand if you get the axle for free then you can swap in a D30 over the week end for about 600-800 bux

Well i have a deal for you. If i bend, break, or wreck my axle i wont come crying to you. However i may post it on this website, in order to inform others how to modify it to keep it from happening to them.

however the only narrow dana 44 i found that was worthwhile to travel and pick up was 500$ I know i can pick up the dana 30 axle all day long for 100$. I payed 200$ for mine and recieved EVERYTHING that connects to the axle and then some, just in case i needed it in my swap.

i would ilke to note, the people such as myself have done the dana 30 swap in our trucks, i happen to like mine, then again it see's more road action then actual wheeling, it see's some mud but i dont rock crawl the thing, i can say i dont have any complaints, but everyone here will tell you to run a dana 44 it is stronger yes, but you have to ask yourself, what kind of wheeling are you going to do??
