Where can I find a spindle nut socket for my d28? You know that nut that has what 5 or 6 small notches (its been awhile sense I took mine apart) and takes a special socket to take it off. Using a punch and hammer is a pain, and AutoZone is pretty much worthless. And if I remember correctly there are two different nuts that each use a different size socket.

they should ahve it, and if im not mistken its 4 notches, any auto parts store will have it, should just be the 1/2 ton tool that would be what u need

I bought the one from AutoZone last time I had my front end apart, but it was for a full size d 35 I think, and thats the only one size Ive seen them have around here.

yup, i bought mine at autozone. it said for full size broncos on the tag but it fits my truck. let me warn you now though, get the kind that goes around the nut like a real socket, not the kind that just has the 4 pins sticking out from the end. when you get there you should see what im talking about.

yeah I saw the differance, doesnt a d28 have 2 different size retaining nuts, an outer smaller one and an inner larger one? That one would be the same size as the fullsize Im assuming.

No, both the locknuts are idential other than one having a 'pin' on it.

It's called a 1/2 ton spindle socket.
