daily doubler build

Gah, I just got confirmation today that work is sending me to Minnesota through Friday to do some work. Then I'm going to Buffalo Grove the first part of next week. Won't get to work on the slider project for a while.

I'm slacking on the sliders. Been busy as shit. Now work is sending me to Norway for 2 weeks. At least once I get back and decide on a design I'll actually have enough money to just buy the material I need a get em done. That's nice for a change.

Speaking of spending money, I've been trying to source some used 37's. I got a hit today, guy says make him an offer (I hate that). Whatta ya think?

He says they're 75% tread.

Looks more like 50% tread. Look for the date at the end of the DOT code. If older than 4 years I would hesitate in buying them.

Do the rims come with?

I asked that he provide pics of all 4 individual tires and a pic of the sidewall to show the stampings.

Wheels not included.

I just looked at BFG's site, and it says 20/32" tread depth is new. That's not very deep IMO.

I told the guy I'm not dieing for tires just yet. I'm OK with shooting low at this point. I have been watching Pirate's classifieds for probably a month and haven't really seen anything though.

They'd need shipped from Louisiana also.

I just measured a quarter. I'd call it 1" in diameter. Looks like his tread is just under half. Say it's 15/32".

New is 20, his are 15. 75% of 20 is 15. Maybe he's right. Hmm.

Here is mine they only have 400 miles on them. This is in the middle rear tire that measures 18/32. Also when they say 20/32 they measure at the shoulder of the tread. During molding process, the center part is less in depth than the edges. So it will be closer to 18/32 in the center.

Awesome! Thanks for the pic. That helps a ton.

$400 Just because of this...

...They'd need shipped from Louisiana also.

Which will bring the price closer to $600 to your door by the time you get them shpped to you (Unless you have a good shipping contact, or a buddy making the run).

Big tires allways seem expensive as hell to me though, so I might be out of line.

My tires cost a ton to ship.....

Bray, I would hold out and buy new or find something local if you wanna get used. Is this gonna be a the tire you are sticking with or just a tweener tire?

I agree Kyle. For close to half tread and not sure on the age, I would rather pay a little more for new.

I would have a hard time stomaching paying over a grand for tires that I dont know how they are gonna do on MY rig. Just cuz they were good on so and so's doesnt mean they are gonna be as good on mine. Thats why I'm "trying out" so many used sets of tires. That way when the time rolls around for new tires (hopefully next winter) I will have a pretty good idea how they are gonna behave if not slghtly better than the old set I had.

as of right now i'm leaning twords iroks, just have to see if these SX'S sway my opinion.
