D35 TTB with Limited Slip Carrier from D35 Jeep Rear?

Ah ha, that's a whole 'nother can of worms.

We were referring to trying to climb over an obstacle at low speeds, as in the truck is all twisted up crawling through a valley.

If you've already got your front end built and is holding up, then go for it.

A L/S will last a bit longer in any situation than a locker, because if one wheel is bound up the power still has somewhere to go.

The L/S just gives you that little bit of extra traction in the snow and mud that keeps you moving. Im not building a crawler so I find a locker to be unneeded...

I put up a post in Cherokee forum asking if anybody has a D35 L/S they want to sell me...

If anyone here has something let me know.....

I did just remember something that I saw when I was looking at lockers, I know one (Aussie) says they work in 1993 and older Jeep D35's as well as Ford D35TTB's. There may be a carrier compatability issue there.

^^
There's an internal difference with the the side gears on some open carriers. Since he's replacing the entire unit as a whole, not a concern.

So any d35 jeep l/s carrier will go right into my d35 TTB and I can bolt 4.88 to it?

I read back through the posts and saw the 31 vs 33 comments. Currently I run 37's with a l/s up front. I rockcrawl mostly and gotta add that if you're smart you'll be ok. So far I've blown up a hub and everything else has kept up. Just be smart and careful, understanding the capabilities of your rig.

Yup hopping is what blows shit but with 4 wheel limited slip I just slowly pull over anything... actually I have only got stuck one time so far trying to climb up a 45 degree mud bog with 12"-14" trenches from 44" boggers... I only have 33"s so I was dragging the axles in the mud and high centered. I backed right out tho.

You got it. Trac-Lock carrier from a Jeep D35 rearend will fit the TTB D35.

There's also the Detroit TrueTrac available too.
do you use ford gears on the carrier or jeeps

do you use ford gears on the carrier or jeeps

The D35 TTB uses reverse-cut (a.k.a. reverse-spiral a.k.a. reverse-rotation) gears, so you would need to use the TTB (Ford) gears.

2013.....a classic...

Keep em wheeling the trails....
