My Aussie arrived today. Aussie gives a part number from tractor supply co. for a spring that works perfectly, the problem is the closest TSC is in Cali... And their website doesn't list it. I'm looking for a spring that goes on the outside of the shaft, not an internal spring. I have heard some valve springs would work, does anyone have any idea what spring I need?
D35 C-Clip Elim. Spring

I found a hood spring on an old Dodge that I eventually worked over the end of the shaft. That was 2 years ago though, I couldn't tell ya what it exactly was from if you held a gun to my head.

The spring you need would be 3" long, 1-3/8" I.D., and about 20-30PPI stiffness.

Sorry I can't tell you where to look for one like that though (I got mine at an OSH Hardware, although it was 1-1/4" I.D. (biggest they had), I had to wrestle with it to get it over the shaft spline)

When I put the lock rite into my D35, I was able to shave the outer edges of the E-clip down till it fit into the spacer cup of the locker. Went together fine if you want to try that instead of messing with the spring. Don't know if it will work for the Aussie cup.

Thanks guys. I thought about doing that Pat but I'd really like to eliminate it so I don't have pull the pig, if I break a shaft.

valve spring

I just go to a local machine shop and get a valve spring (one that they are going to throw away) off of any 4cyl car engine. I have used those for ten yrs. and they work great.
