D28 spindle bearing?

When I replaced my spindle hardware I found out they were Geo wheel studs. M10 and just hammers in from the back. Don't worry about snapping them.
I was curious. I did notice they went in from the back and also felt similar.

Can i heat them a bit if need be without messing anything up? Im thinking if i clean the exposed threads, hit it with some MAPP and use my impact they probably will survive

Yeah, heat the nut, should be fine.

shouldn't have to heat it. what do they look like? just wire wheel em with the drill and some CLP and they should turn. if they are rotten for sure replace em.

i am home. moving shit to my new shop and all kinds of other shit if I run into any parts I will post up ... pretty sure I gave a lot of the ttb stuff away

I didnt look real close. They dont look rotted...just...like any other 40 year old RBV part.

i planned on hitting them with a wheel. Ill know more in a few days when i get over there to piss with it more

Got the spindle off.

Wasnt that bad...my 15mm impact socket was MIA as were my other 15 mm 1\2 drives, so i went at it with my trusty 3\8 drive craftsman. Wire wheeled them off and sprayed some liquid wrench...ive had spark plugs come out harder.

Spindle itself was a bit harder, screwed the already screwed retaining nut on and beat it like it owed me money with a sledge. Im replacing it anyways,.

The U joint on this shaft is trash. 2 caps have dust for needle bearings...

Good news is the ones on the passenger side shaft are good and tight. I think theyve been done...but not this one.

I do have a question though...is the C clip retainer on the splines of the axle shaft reuseable if i dont destroy it? And if i do destroy it are they available?

Looks like progress.

I’ve always re-used the C-clip retainer on the axle shaft splines.

Reuse that c-clip. No problem there.

Watch where the threads are bunged up at. If it's just the first few (looks like it) then run the spindle if the bearing surfaces are OK. It's when the threads are missing in the middle where the lock ring goes is when you have problems. I have seen a bunch of them where the nipple on the inner lock nut breaks off and then the lock ring spins and takes out a lot of threads. Then you have to use a thicker inner nut or replace the spindle. Your wheel bearing surface looks questionable so I might suggest replacing it regardless...
