I replaced my plugs and wires about 10k mi ago and yesterday my truck started running like shit. by the time i got it home the CEL came on and ran cyl 3 and 6 mis fireing. I pulled the plugs and they do not seem to have any abnormal ware on them. The wires were seated nice and tight. I put them back in and it is still running like shit. Any help would be appreciated. BTW these are the cylinders that are on the back of the engine next to the firewall on both banks.

Thanks, Keith

Sounds like you will need to get out the ol' VOM and start testing the primary and secondary of the coil pack, mainly at Cyl 3 & 6. Then test your new wires (Plug wires), If all is well, use a spark tester and test for spark, if you have spark, try using a new spark plug. You can try using one of the other wires as well that is known to be good in place of 3 & 6 to see if you get spark. I know in the old days we could just take the plug and place it back into the boot and lay it on the manifold (or anywhere where where it is grounded), but I don't think you can do that with the vehicles nowadays, so use a spark tester.

Post your results.

Did you screw up the firing order? The coil pack does NOT go 1-2-3-4-5-6.

The right connections are imprinted on the top of the pack (wipe the dirt off).

no i didnt screw up the fireing order. I replaced the spark plugs and coil pack and it runs great. I think it was just a problem with the plugs. But now I guess I have a spare coil pack in case I ever need it again.
